Research indicates that some age-related degeneration of the cartilage in joints may be helped by the bioactive peptide Sigumir. This slows down the degeneration of cartilage that happnes with age and ca ben used both in prevention and in cureo fjoint problems. It can also beused in combination with other therapies used in arthritis, including prescrition drugs or natural anti-inflammatories. It is given orally, and it is well tolerated. It does not result in any side effects. The dosage for patients with osteoarthritis: 15 minutes before meals two capsules, twice a day for one month. The course need to be repeated in another 3-6 months for better effect.

In a clinicl study of diseases of the temporomandibular joint (the joint of the jaw bone), in 62 elderly patients, Sigumir was examined in associateion with conventional standard treatment. The patient group that was treated with Sigumir showed an improvent in the sensation of pain, an iprovement in the degree of mouth openin (they were able to open their mouth more) improved chewing and reduced the need for prolonged conventional treatment.
