This dietary supplement is made up from natural peptides extracted from the parathyroid gland of animals. The parathyroid gland (it is actually made up of four small glands) is found near the thyroid in the neck, and it produces the parathyroid hormone. Bonothyrk has the same functions as those peptides that are produced naturally inside the body and it restores protein synthesis within the cells of the parathyroid, which is a gland responsible for regulating the levels of calcium and phosphate. It can thus be used for general regulation of the nervous and muscular systems. It has been used where the parathyroid function is compromised (both in hyper and hypo parathyroidism) as well as in abnormal calcification and osteoporosis. The dose is one capsule two to three times a day before meals, and the normal duration is one month. This can be repeated if necessary every three to six months. No side-effects have been reported.
